Walking into Possibilities

Updated: May 16, 2019

I love snow but I'm not nor ever have been a skier. During a lunch break, I decided to check out the going-out-of-business sale at The Stable Outdoor Outfitters. In addition to ski boots and skiing paraphernalia, I found furniture and fixtures for sale. I wandered around. After ascending the stairs like a mountain climber (well, almost), I found some treasures for the bookstore upstairs.

The shining gem (left and middle photos) gleamed in the afternoon sunlight that illuminated the room. Of course, the beauty I wanted - a handcrafted, vintage shelving and fold-down table system, perfect for a bookstore - was way out of my price range. But it was amazing. I'm sure I'll be dreaming about this find for a while.

While I didn't leave with the beauty, I did purchase a great bookcase, a mid-century modern couch, a 1920s filing cabinet, several wooden chairs and more. Now I have some refinishing to do. Thoughts of whimsical painted chairs and a loaded bookshelf floated in my mind. I can't wait to get started with updates. Pinterest, here I come!

How wonderful to be able to purchase these wonderful pieces of days gone by at the end of The Stables' 47-year history to be used in the beginning of another. I can't wait to see where it lands. How about you?

My first bookstore purchases! Woo hoo!
